The Caves

8-12 Niddry Street South, Edinburgh EH1 1NS

Open: Various, dependent on event

What is The Caves?

Found at the bottom of the 'cowgate' is this venue hidden away in an 18th century 'vault'. After 100 years of being "lost", The Caves and the surrounding venues have been restored and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now host a wide range of events .

What will I find on here?

The Caves is often used as a music venue for bands and DJ nights however this venue can be used for pretty much anything - business meetings, private parties and even weddings. The venue is licensed for civil, humanist, religious and hand fasting ceremonies.

How much will it set me back?

Due the wide range of events, every night would cost a different price. However expect to pay £10-£15 for a night of music and private functions vary.

The Caves is a part of a family ran company called Unusual Venues Edinburgh. They own three multi-purpose entertainment venues that are steeped in history.

They say "You could say we're at the heart of Edinburgh's underground scene. Our venues form part of the legendary Edinburgh Vaults - a distinct series of chambers formed in the 19 arches of the South Bridge. From taverns to tradesmen's workshops, a red light district and even, a rumoured hunting ground for serial killers Burk and Hare - each vault has its place in history and a story to tell."
